- "Grow Your Own" Nursing Program
Always wanted to be a nurse? Through "Grow Your Own," you can obtain your Associate's Degree in Nursing while you work, through our local community colleges.
- Be employed full- or part-time while attending school
- HCA pays for tuition, fees, books, uniforms and shoes
- Traditional and interactive classroom settings at your place of work
- Clinical instruction and skills labs provided at your hospital

- Nursing Externship
Available to students who are between their junior and senior year of nursing school.
- Work with skilled RN preceptors in many clinical areas to enhance your nursing education
- Remain employed with the facility upon graduation and completion of externship, and progress into a New Grad RN position through facility internships
- Nursing Internship
Designed to prepare new nursing graduates and nurses who do not have prior specialty experience for an exciting career in a number of specialty areas.
- Classroom and clinical preceptorship time at the facility
- Specialty areas include Critical Care, Neonatal ICU, Pediatrics, Pedi ICU, OR, Oncology, ER, Med/Surg, Labor & Delivery (specialty availability may vary based on facility needs)
- Full-time employment as a staff RN in the specialty chosen during and after successful completion of the program
- LVN/Paramedic to RN Program
Take your career even further through the RN program through partnerships with local community colleges.
- Core classroom instruction provided at the hospital via specially wired classroom facilities
- Clinical instruction and skills labs provided at the facility
- RN to BSN Program
RNs currently employed with HCA hospitals have the opportunity to complete their BSN through an affiliation with UT-Arlington.
- Reduced tuition rates for participants; may qualify for tuition reimbursement
- Online or traditional classroom settings available
- Degree completed in as few as 16 months

- BSN to MSN Program
HCA North Texas and the University of Texas Arlington have formed a collaborative partnership to provide graduate education to HCA BSN-prepared nurses who would like to complete a Master of Science in Nursing Administration degree.
UTA requires students to complete three core courses prior to entering the Nursing Administration courses. These three core courses are available at UTA or may be available online. Once students enter the upper division courses, they may attend classes at The Medical Center of Plano where the classes are delivered in a synchronous manner.
Basic requirements for admissions are:
- Complete the college application process.
- You must be a current employee with a minimum of 6 months of service.
